The Leaves and Branches of Our Family Tree
In December, 1991 my father, Joseph N Fisher, published "The Leaves And Branches Of Our Family Tree".
It was a history of our families he researched and wrote for his 12 grandchildren. 23 years later, in May 2014, I picked up where my Dad left off.
Here is part of what Dad wrote in his introduction:
"Moving from one place to another is one of those unpredictable changes that can be traumatic. Ask your Grandfather Fisher. He was twelve years old when he moved to Illinois from Springfield, Massachusetts where he had many friends and happy boyhood memories. All that changed when one day when his father and mother said, "We are leaving Springfield and moving to Chicago, Illinois.”
Chicago was "somewhere out west," hundreds of miles away from familiar surroundings and boyhood friendships and he perceived a future of darkness and despair.
Now he looks back on that change as a very lucky event. If your grandfather had stayed in
Massachusetts how would he have met and married your grandmother and if he hadn't married her who would your parents be? And if he had not moved to Illinois..."
WOULD THERE EVEN HAVE BEEN A YOU?
This site will always be a work in progress started by my father.
Thanks, Dad!

While in college, I drove a Village taxi cab and after college I drove the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile. I was hired by Sears in 1953 and worked there for 32 years before retirement in 1985.
On December 31, 1946 Nadine Gunn and I went out together on our first date.
After high school the guys went off to fight in World War II and the girls went to work. After the war the boys came home and in 1946 Rosemary and Bill asked if I wanted to spend New Years Eve with them and Bill's friend, Joe Fisher. You're lucky I said yes or maybe you wouldn't be you.
We went to see the movie, "The Best Years of Our Lives" and that was the beginning of the best years of our lives.

"What did you expect - chimes?"
"My favorite son-in-law? Why of course it's Doug"
Which Doug?
Yes.
When one of my son-in-law's proudly announced he had lost weight the past week I told him, "That's like picking up a handful of sand off the beach and saying there's less sand."
Tips from the Chef..."Grilled hamburgers are done when black in the center."
Chicken, though, is best served rare.
Tips from the Bartender..."ALWAYS use a shot glass when making a Manhattan. Don't just wing it."
I do look good in this hat.
"It will all work out"
And she was right!
Take a look at the surnames in our family...
