Frank Meister, Senior is described by his granddaughter, Barbara as a hard talking man with a soft heart.

Although he stopped going to church in later life, he could chant the mass as well as any priest even with the ever present cigar in his mouth.
He worked at golf courses most of his life, one of which was the South Shore Country Club in Chicago where he was the Caddy Master.

Grandpa Meister enjoyed telling bedtime stories to his grandchildren, Barbara and Bill. They would curl up on his ample lap nestled against his large stomach as Frank told bone chilling ghost stories and other bed time thrillers. When the children were drowsy and went to their bed room, he reminded them to be careful and look under the bed for monsters with blood shot eyes.

A hunter and fisherman, Frank loved dogs and often brought home strays convinced that each one was the perfect hunting dog.

Grandpa Meister liked being with his friends and was known to occasionally enjoy a beverage or two with the boys at the local tavern. Sometimes he came home in the early morning hours and turned on his electric exercise machine. It was the kind with a canvas belt that went around the waist, then vibrated vigorously. No one knew whether it reduced weight but the family was sure an earthquake had struck when Grandpa Meister turned on his exercise machine at two o'clock in the morning.

Frank Meister, Senior died in 1954 at the age of 76.
