John Robertson, son of Joseph and Phebe (Carmichael) Robertson was born near Martinsburgh, Knox Co Ohio., emigrated with his father's family to 1 ½ miles east of Tiskilwa, Bureau Co., Ill., where he arrived June 13,1835

Married Harriet Busbee, by whom he had William Robertson, who died with diphtheria in the summer of 1860. His wife died and later he married again.

He was a private in Co. E9 57th Regiment Ill, Vol, Inf.during the Civil War. He was a noted liar and drunkard and could sing all the Methodist hymns and obscene songs known.

He was a most excellent man in sickness and death, and very generous to give to the sick and needy. He died in Tiskilwa, Ill, Apr. 3, 1902, aged 76, and was buried in Mt. Bloom Cemetery near Tiskilwa, Ill, He left a widow, three sons and a daughter whose names I do not know.
