U.S. Patent Office document with drawing for Stalk Cutter invented by Joseph N. Pervier. Per the document 2/3 of the patent went to Abel H Gunn and Peter M Pickard.
Abel Gunn was a manager at Buda Manufacturing in Buda, Illinois and I suspect that is the connection.
